While a background in boating or maritime operations is helpful, we provide guidance, curriculum, and support to help you confidently deliver training.
Many successful operators bring a mix of passion, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
Whoever is the lead instructor, needs to have their Captain’s License and approval from the USCG to instruct. We will assist you in this approval process.
You’ll receive access to Flagship’s proven curriculum, operational guidance, and ongoing support. We’re here to help you set up your location, deliver high-quality training here at our Tacoma Location and at your location. We will help you to grow your business over time.
Most locations operate from a simple classroom-style setting with navigation charts and teaching materials. Some partners also incorporate access to nearby marinas, but it’s not required.
A “road show” style could also be a possibility where you travel to different locations ie: hotels, resorts community centers etc. and put classes on.
No. The training is all classroom-based.
While access to a vessel can enhance the experience, it is not required to operate a Flagship Maritime location.
Timelines vary depending on your location and readiness, but many partners can launch within a few months once key elements (space, scheduling, and onboarding) are in place.
Many location owners choose to teach, especially if they have experience. Others build a team and bring in qualified instructors.
We’ll help you determine the best approach for your situation.
Investment varies depending on your location and setup, but compared to many business opportunities, startup costs are relatively moderate. We’ll walk you through the key components and help you understand what’s needed to get up and running in your area.
The “all-in” costs range from $103,000 to $172,000 depending on how large of a facility you get. These estimates include our $25,000 franchise fee. We can discuss this with you further.
